Wake to the taste of
regret on my tongue
Guilt leaves my body
feeling stiff and sore
Fools welcome reprieve
from the constant numb
This vile poison
boiling in my core
Yet, when compared, dysphoria
doesn’t hold a flame
To the noxious film
coating my skin with
This thick shame
